Lived Experience Speaking

Panel discussion with three speakers in front of an audience in a modern conference room.

What I do

I deliver keynote speaking, panel contributions, and workshops that centre lived experience, complexity, and intersectionality.

This isn’t sanitised inspiration. It’s grounded, practical, and honest, built to help audiences understand what systems do to people, how harm gets normalised, and what solidarity looks like when it costs something.

Formats

  • Keynote speaking (conferences, leadership days, community events)
  • Panels (lived experience representation with substance, not tokenism)
  • Workshops (interactive, scenario-based learning)
  • MC / facilitated conversations (when you need a steady hand in a complex room)

My speaking style

  • Scenario-driven storytelling to educate, challenge, and inspire action
  • Clear, practical takeaways (not vague “awareness”)
  • Trauma-informed delivery with strong boundaries (no forced disclosure)
  • Audience-safe, ethically rigorous, and politically real

Core themes

 Lived experience-led systems reform

  • Why “consultation” often fails (and how to do it without extraction)
  • What happens when systems prioritise compliance over outcomes
  • How policy and practice can unintentionally replicate harm

Complexity and intersectionality

  • How identity, power, disability, poverty, gender, sexuality, culture, geography, and history stack
  • Why one-size-fits-all frameworks break in real life
  • What intersectionality looks like in practice (not as a buzzword)

Solidarity + ethical pluralism

  • Moving from individual blame to structural accountability
  • Ethical pluralism: multiple valid ways of knowing and healing
  • Building solidarity that protects people (not performative allyship)

Practical survival skills for helpers and leaders

  • Capacity vs capability (and how to stop burning out your best people)
  • Boundaries, consent, and psychological safety in high-stakes spaces
  • How to respond to disclosure without making it worse
  • Workshops (interactive, scenario-based learning)
  • MC / facilitated conversations (when you need a steady hand in a complex room)

Workshops (how they run)

  • Workshops are interactive and built around real-world scenarios.
  • Decision points: “What would you do here?”
  • Debrief: impact, ethics, risk, and alternatives
  • Tools people can take back into their roles

Who this is for

  • Conferences and peak bodies
  • Government and public sector teams
  • Health and community services
  • Education and youth services
  • Not-for-profits and advocacy organisations
  • Lived experience networks and community-led groups

What I need from you

  •  Audience type and size
  • Event purpose (education, culture shift, strategy, advocacy)
  • Topics you want centred (and topics you want avoided)
  • Accessibility needs and cultural safety requirements
  • Whether you want Q&A, facilitated discussion, or workshop format

Fees

Speaking fees are quoted based on format, audience size, preparation required, travel, and risk profile.

If you want a fast quote, send:

  • format (keynote / panel / workshop)
  • date, location, and audience size
  • topic focus

I acknowledge the Narungga Peoples, the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which I live and work, and pay my deepest respects to Elders past, present, and emerging.

I also acknowledge all Traditional Custodians across Australia, honoring the enduring spiritual connection to Country, waters, sky, and all living beings.

I recognise that sovereignty was never ceded. I honour the wisdom, resilience, and ongoing contributions of First Nations peoples, and I commit to walking respectfully and reciprocally alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. This means listening deeply, learning humbly, and upholding respect and reciprocity—recognising that true partnership is built on shared care for Country and community.
